We help hospitals and physician executives to identify the training, experiential, and awareness elements that
physician executives need to become health care business executives or to become more successful health
care business executives; and we assist the physician executive through ongoing consulting and coaching to
achieve and develop these elements.
The purposes of the Physician Executive Management Development service are to assist hospitals and
individual physicians in evaluating specific physician executive management development needs; and to provide
career planning and executive coaching services to help hospitals and physician executives to achieve better
performance in physician executive leadership roles.
The Physician Executive Management Development service application is for hospitals and physician
executives and those wishing to become physician executives:
- to better identify what the individual physician executive needs to do,
- the timeframe under which it should be done,
- the resources available and recommended to undertake a formal effort to become a member of
executive leadership.
Physician Executive Management Development consists of a Professional Profile, a Summary Action Plan, and
the Consulting associated with implementing and monitoring the Plan.
The Professional Profile is created by identifying strengths, weaknesses, concerns, and goals for the physician.
In addition, the physician’s background, accomplishments, and aspirations are summarized within this Profile.
- The information used in developing the Professional Profile will come from the physician executive and
the hospital.
- The information may also come from others including peers.
- The Professional Profile will also utilize the specific issues and opportunities present at the hospital.
The Summary Action Plan utilizes the Profile findings, information coming from interviews with the physician
executive and others, the results of several questionnaires, and an evaluation of the physician executive’s
overall suitability for executive management.
- This will include the specific and general elements that need to be added or accomplished to improve
the physician executive’s profile, the time frame under which this should occur, and the anticipated
outcomes.
- The Summary Action Plan will be developed in line with the present and future needs of the hospital.
- The schedule for the Summary Action Plan will include a patterned approach of ongoing evaluation of
the physician executive’s progress.
The Consulting consists of monitoring the Summary Action Plan and evaluating progress.
- This includes the regular, ongoing evaluation of the physician executive’s progress, and associated
written reports.
- This further includes any changes or adjustments needed and ongoing evaluation of current
circumstances.
- The Consulting is planned to occur over a 12 month, or less, period.
